About wireless product testing
DEKRA's experts in wireless testing are experienced professionals who ensure your products function optimally and use their radio capabilities correctly. Comprehensive wireless testing is essential for proper operation and
connectivity
.
Meeting legal requirements does not automatically mean a product functions well or is compatible with other devices. Many radio technologies have specific requirements that products must meet. All products with a radio frequency interface must comply with functional, interoperability, and practical testing requirements that go beyond basic legal requirements. This ensures that manufacturers can guarantee their products are fully compatible and functional with other devices and networks.
DEKRA offers comprehensive and globally recognized wireless and connectivity tests for technologies such as 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS), 4G (LTE), 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRa, NRF, and RFID. These tests open new markets and ensure that your products can be labelled as 'compatible,' gaining user trust.
RED directive
The
RED Directive
is crucial for wireless product testing. As of August 1, 2024, all products in the EU with a radio connection, such as Bluetooth or 4G, must comply with the RED Delegated Act article 3.3. D.E.F., an addition to the CE Directive. This legislation improves cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy. The focus is on:
- Strengthening Network Resilience
- Enhanced Data and Privacy Protection
- Fraud Reduction
The harmonized standards for the RED Directive are still in development. As a manufacturer, it is essential to adapt your products to these new obligations in a timely manner. DEKRA can support you as a Notified Body for the Radio Equipment Directive to meet these requirements.
