KEMA-KEUR is replaced by DEKRA Mark. Curious about the posibilities of this quality mark?

What is KEMA-KEUR?

All about the KEMA-KEUR

Anyone familiar with the history of Dutch quality marks will surely know the name KEMA. In 1927, the Foundation for the Inspection of Electrical Equipment (KEMA) was established. In 1931, the company introduced its own quality mark, KEMA-KEUR, which would appear on numerous household appliances for many years. Discover more about KEMA-KEUR and the relationship the quality mark has with DEKRA on this page.

KEMA Quality B.V. was founded in 1995 as a subsidiary of KEMA. This separate entity focused specifically on certifications and quality assurance with certifications for systems (including ISO), persons (certificates) and electrical products (including KEMA-KEUR). In 2009, DEKRA acquired the subsidiary KEMA Quality B.V.
After the takeover, DEKRA took advantage of the synergy benefits and thus became the cornerstone of not only electrical safety, but also sustainability and innovation. DEKRA obtained the exclusive license and certified against the KEMA-KEUR quality mark for many years.

Does KEMA-KEUR still exist?

In 2021, DEKRA Mark was introduced for the first time and accredited as a second quality mark for electronic products by CENELEC, alongside KEMA-KEUR. DEKRA Mark is based on the same quality procedures, international agreements, and product safety standards as KEMA-KEUR. The only difference between the two marks is the name. From this point onwards, DEKRA Mark will gradually take over from KEMA-KEUR as a symbol of trust for consumers and manufacturers worldwide.

Transition from KEMA-KEUR to DEKRA Mark

Any holder of a valid KEMA-KEUR certificate can apply for a DEKRA MARK certificate. As part of the transition process, DEKRA will provide these certificates simultaneously with existing KEMA-KEUR certificates. DEKRA plans to gradually phase out KEMA-KEUR certificates based on individual agreements with manufacturers, taking into account the effort required to update product labels and documentation.
