Ensure traceability in your entire supply chain
The transition to a sustainable circular economy is crucial to achieving climate goals. As an extension of the ISCC EU standard, ISCC PLUS offers a voluntary certification pathway for a wide range of sources in the bio and circular economy. This includes biomass, waste, residues, non-biological renewable resources, and recyclable carbon materials.
What is the ISCC PLUS certification?
While
ISCC EU
focuses on the legally regulated area of biofuels, ISCC PLUS certification applies to biomass outside the EU RED directive. This voluntary
sustainability certification
enables your company to demonstrate the sustainable origin of bio-based and/or circular raw materials in food, packaging, animal feed, and chemical production and supply chains. The ISCC PLUS certification promotes ecological and social criteria, creates trust through responsible production, and guarantees ethical standards in certified products and processes.
1. Selection of the certification body and registration
The ISCC PLUS certification process begins with entering into a certification agreement with the chosen certification body. This agreement outlines the duration and content of the certification process. Your organization is then registered with ISCC.
2. Project meeting and preparatory audit (optional)
Addressing outstanding questions and defining the next steps. If necessary, the project meeting can be held on-site, or a preparatory audit can be conducted.
3. On-site certification audit
Our auditors conduct an on-site audit. This involves evaluating documents and exploring your ISCC PLUS system and the application of your documented statements to your daily business processes. DEKRA auditors also conduct interim audits and sample audits on-site at third parties in the supply chain.
4. Issuance of the ISCC PLUS report and certificate
Upon successful completion of the audit, you will receive your audit report and ISCC PLUS certificate. Important to note: if your organization does not meet the criteria of the ISCC PLUS standard in an initial audit, the ISCC PLUS certificate will not be issued. In such cases, auditors will return at a later time after deficiencies have been resolved. For recertification, corrective actions must be taken within 40 days and verified by the auditor.
Recertification Audit
An ISCC PLUS certificate is valid for twelve months. A new ISCC PLUS certification is required 60 days before the expiration of this period. The recertification audit must be scheduled to avoid any time gap between the two certifications.

ISCC
) is an independent, multi-stakeholder initiative and a leading certification system that contributes to sustainable, fully traceable, deforestation-free, and climate-friendly supply chains. ISCC's mission is to protect forests, carbon-rich soils, and biodiversity, contribute to waste reuse, and improve traceability.
In 2024, ISCC has already issued more than 57,000 certificates. The certified organizations operate in over 140 countries and various sectors. These organizations include farms, plantations, primary collection points for raw agricultural commodities, sources and collection points for waste and residues, and processing facilities for bio-based fuels such as biodiesel, bioethanol, and biogas. Trading centres, warehouses, and distribution centres are also included.
