Emergency lighting standards updated
The new standard for emergency lighting (IEC 60598-2-22) has been published. In the near future this IEC-standard shall become an EN-standard. The new standard for emergency lighting control gear (IEC 61347-2-7) has also been published as an IEC-standard to be able to handle the new technologies. These will become an EN-standard as well. Read the main changes below.
The main changes of the new standards
The main changes compared to the previous version are the introduction of requirements for Li-ion batteries and electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC) as energy source. In addition, the standards no longer refer to batteries, but to electric source for safety service (ESSS) to cover both batteries and EDLCs.
A change-over period
The changes do not affect the ENEC-certification. When the EN-version of the standard is published, there will be a change-over period to get products ready for the new standard. If necessary the CB-certification can be updated according to the new standards.
